Itinerary

Day 1 | Lima

Airport reception in Lima and transfer to the selected hotel. City tours that allow us to explore the history, contrasts, architecture, etc.

Lima is internationally acclaimed for its gastronomy. We will visit a restaurant to delight our palates and appreciate the culinary art.

Day 2 | Lima - Paracas

Pickup from the hotel to embark on a bus journey towards the Colca Canyon through the Yura area, entering the Aguada Blanca National Reserve or Pampa Cañahuas. Here, we will observe vicuñas, llamas, alpacas, and many other species native to the region. We will pass through the villages of Vizcachani, Chucura, and Patapampa, arriving at Chivay. We will visit the La Calera thermal baths, and in the evening, we will go to a folk music and dance venue (beverages not included)..



Day 3 | Nazca

Transfer from the hotel to the bus terminal heading to Pisco – Paracas. Reception and transfer to the pier to board the boat that will take us to the Ballestas Islands. Here we will be able to appreciate the animals in their habitat, El Candelabro, Pejerrey Bay, Humboldt Penguins, sea lions, seals and guano birds. Visit to the Paracas National Reserve. We finished the day with an overnight stay at the Huacachina Oasis.

After lunch, we will travel by bus to the city of Lima.

Day 4 | Arequipa - City of the Volcanoes

Transfer from the hotel to the bus terminal heading to Pisco – Paracas. Reception and transfer to the pier to board the boat that will take us to the Ballestas Islands. Day 6 | Condor's Viewpoint

Viewpoint of Cruz del Condor (entrance fees included), to witness the flight of the Condor, the largest bird in the world. In this location, we can appreciate the depth of the canyon, about 1,800 meters. Later, we will visit the traditional villages of Pincollo, Yanque, and Maca, where we will observe the Hanging Tombs, churches, and terraces. Departure by bus to the city of Puno (5 hours). Overnight stay in the city of Puno.

Day 7 | Puno - Lake Titicaca - Amantani Island

Transfer to the port. Departure from the dock to the UROS ISLAND, a group of floating islands constructed with totora (a plant that grows in the lake). The inhabitants have ancient origins, and their customs and practices have been maintained to this day. We will observe houses, schools, a church, and a variety of flora and fauna from the lake. We will also enjoy a short raft ride. We will continue to the AMANTANI ISLAND, where we will have rooms by the lake and a delicious lunch. Visit to the viewpoints of Pachatata and Amantani. The island of Amantaní, also known as the world capital of mystical tourism, is the largest on Lake Titicaca in Peru. Bonfire and overnight stay.

Day 8 | Taquile Island

We head towards the island of Taquile, a community rich in cultural heritage, where its inhabitants are renowned for the diversity of their finely crafted textile art. This Quechua-speaking ethnic group maintains the integrity of the housing modus operandi of their pre-Inca and Inca ancestors. Lunch and return to the city of Puno.

Day 9 | Puno - Quechua Corridor - Cusco

Today we depart along the Quechua Corridor route, with our first stop at the archaeological complex of Sillustani, known as the ‘Tombs of the Kolla Royalty.’ It constitutes a sanctuary of fertility, featuring architectural constructions carved in volcanic stone. Visit to the Site Museum, Lake Umayo.

Andahuaylillas. From Puno to Cusco, during the journey, we will visit picturesque villages such as Rachi and Andahuaylillas. Pickillacta, Cusco. Reception and installation at the hotel. Welcome with a coca tea. Rest for acclimatization.

Day 10 : Cusco

13:45 Pickup from your hotel to start our CITY TOURS + ARCHAEOLOGICAL MONUMENTS including: the fortress of Sacsayhuaman, Q’enko, Puca-Pucara, Tambomachay ‘Inca Baths,’ Plaza de Armas, Cathedral, and Koricancha.”

18:30 Our City Tour ends at the Plaza de Armas in Cusco, allowing the passenger to continue exploring the city. If the passenger wishes, we will drop them off at their hotel.

Day 11 | Excursion to the Sacred Valley of the Incas in Cusco.

Breakfast. Excursion to the ‘SACRED VALLEY OF THE INCAS,’ visit to the town of Pisaq to appreciate its fair and typical market, Urubamba. Buffet lunch. We will continue our journey to the impressive archaeological site of Ollantaytambo, where we will visit its temple and terraces. In the afternoon, we will transfer to the train station to head to Aguas Calientes and spend the night there.

Day 12 | Excursion to Machu Picchu

Breakfast Very early in the morning, we will be one of the first groups to ascend to the Machu Picchu citadel. The guided tour in the city of Machu Picchu lasts approximately 3 hours. We will then descend to Aguas Calientes. Buffet lunch. At the appropriate time, transfer to the train station to return to Cusco.

Day 13 | Cusco - Lima

El desayuno. Free day for activities at appropriate time transfer to the airport to return to Lima.

WHAT TO BRING (According to the season)

As the weather in Cusco is not so unpredictable, you must be prepared for both summer and winter conditions at the same time. To achieve this, we recommend bringing the following:

  • Original passport and student ID if applicable.
  • Night in Aguas Calientes: Please bring with you a set of clean clothes to wear after the hike. In addition, you may bring a swimsuit and towels if you decide to visit the hot springs in Aguas Calientes.
  • Personal hygiene items: toothpaste. toothbrush and wet wipes.
  • Medications: If you are taking any medication, bring it with you. It is also recommended to carry some over-the-counter medications for altitude sickness (Coramine, Aspirin, Diamox, Sorojchi, Acetazolamide). It is also suggested to bring Blister Prevention Gel to avoid blisters on the feet and prevent any interruption in the hike.
  • Digital camera with external memory (2-4 Gb) (Optional).

Physical demand

This journey requires a moderate physical effort. We will take breaks to rest if necessary, depending on the pace of the group. All the trails covered in these programs are below 1,000 meters above sea level, so there is no risk of altitude-related complications.

Time

The climate of the area corresponds to that of the entire Cusco region, with two distinct seasons. From May to October, it experiences the cold-dry period, while from November to April, it enters the rainy season. Additionally, the winds can be consistent and intensify between August and September due to the geography of the area.

Finally, temperatures can reach a maximum of 19 degrees Celsius and a minimum of -6 degrees Celsius on the coldest and frostiest nights.

PRE-DEPARTURE REPORT

There is a mandatory pre-departure briefing at our Cusco office one day before your 2-day Inca Trail departure at 6 pm. You will meet with your tour guide, who will provide detailed information about your excursion, a checklist of what to bring, rental equipment, or any general questions. Our office is located at: PJE Carpio k-I-361 Cusco, Peru.
